I am getting acquainted with the API and ScoutScript commands using a single lead scout and another scout.
I simply went to HQ and said:
events.start
function on.temperature {led.cyan(5000);};
I used this as a simple way to indicate every time the on.temperature callback was fired. However, it seems to be very, very spaced out. I went from a window, which was frozen outside, and then to a space heater, for instance, and it took quite a while for the LED to light up, indicating that the change in environment had been picked up my on.temperature.
So then I made a simple Meteor server to check on data coming from each scout in my troop, here's some output from the lead scout:
38°C (Jan 7th, 12:55:16 pm)
35°C (Jan 7th, 3:20:16 pm) // lunch = +2hr
43°C (Jan 7th, 3:22:02 pm)
46°C (Jan 7th, 3:23:02 pm)
43°C (Jan 7th, 3:24:02 pm)
40°C (Jan 7th, 3:25:02 pm) // almost all 1 mn apart here
38°C (Jan 7th, 3:26:02 pm)
38°C (Jan 7th, 3:27:02 pm)
37°C (Jan 7th, 3:28:02 pm)
35°C (Jan 7th, 3:32:02 pm) // why is this 4 mn?
I'd like to also point out I have a lot of log data, I tried to pick a chunk above that showed the 1mn updates and the weird gaps as well. Some of the readings are very erratic:
34°C (Jan 7th, 9:53:45 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 9:58:50 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:02:11 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:03:56 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:04:11 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:09:03 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:14:08 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:19:17 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:23:13 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:24:13 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:24:23 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:25:14 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:26:14 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:29:14 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:29:28 am)
33°C (Jan 7th, 10:32:14 am)
33°C (Jan 7th, 10:39:34 am)
34°C (Jan 7th, 10:43:14 am)
I am confused. What causes the on.temperature to be triggered? What causes temp-type reports to be sent out? It's obviously not a change in degrees celsius, because the device reported some on.temperature events where the temperature was the same!
It's obviously not a regular periodic check-in, because the timing between reported events varies from 5 minutes to 1 minute... What is the meaning of this variation?
Thank you!
